Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, so I offer a free, 15-minute consultation to help you decide whether therapy with me feels right for you. It's an opportunity to briefly talk about what has brought you to therapy, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of whether we might work well together. There's no obligation to continue afterwards.
-
This varies from person to person, depending on your needs and what you'd like to explore. I generally recommend starting with six sessions to give us time to build a therapeutic relationship and begin exploring what's bringing you to therapy. This is a recommendation rather than a commitment, and we'll regularly review how things are going and whether therapy continues to feel helpful for you.

Counselling and psychotherapy (both often referred to as “therapy”) overlap considerably, and many therapists practise both. Counselling often focuses on helping people navigate a specific difficulty or life event, while psychotherapy tends to explore deeper patterns that may have developed over time.
In practice, the distinction isn't always clear-cut. At Irele, I work integratively, which means we can focus on what's bringing you to therapy now while also exploring any underlying experiences or patterns that feel important. Together, we'll work at a pace and depth that feels right for you.

Yes. What you share in our sessions is treated as confidential. Whilst I am required to discuss my clinical work with a qualified clinical supervisor as part of my professional responsibilities, I use anonymised information.
There are some exceptional circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken, such as where there is a serious risk of harm, a safeguarding concern or a legal requirement to disclose information. Where possible and appropriate, I will always discuss this with you beforehand.
-
Absolutely. I welcome adults of all races, ethnicities, cultures, sexual orientations and gender identities. I aim to offer an inclusive and affirming space for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent people, where you can feel comfortable bringing all aspects of yourself into our work.
I've had the privilege of working with people from a range of backgrounds and life experiences. We don't need to share the same identities, culture or experiences for meaningful therapeutic work to take place. In fact, sometimes having different perspectives can open up opportunities for new understanding and exploration.
What matters most is that you feel respected, listened to and able to bring your whole self into the room, without feeling you need to explain, minimise or justify who you are.
